Weekly Newsletter — March 19, 2026
HERE’S YOUR WEEKLY OVERVIEW OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AT COMMUNITY CHURCH + IN THE COMMUNITY!
highlight of the week: good Friday!
Join us for Good Friday as we reflect on Jesus’ grace and mercy revealed through His death and resurrection—a love that makes space for everyone. We invite you to consider what this way of living looks like in your own life at one of our Good Friday services at 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, or 6:00pm. Please RSVP using the link below, as space is limited. Children’s programming for kindergarten and under will be available during the 1:30pm and 4:30pm services. RSVP HERE.
THIS SUNDAY’S MESSAGE
This Sunday we are continuing in our series that walks through Old Testament narratives — not as distant religious history, but as God's own previews of the cross. Bring your Bible and join us at 8am & 10am and hot breakfast at 9am! Watching online? We stream our 10am message live - find here! Watching after service is over? Find message here.

GOOD FRIDAY: SHOE DONATION!
We are preparing a special art installation for our Good Friday service and are looking to collect 300 pairs of shoes. If you are able to help, we are specifically looking for shoes that are:
• New or gently used
• White, cream, or another light color
• Closed-toed
The shoes will not be returned, so please only donate pairs you are comfortable leaving behind. Shoes can be dropped off in the designated collection area in the lobby, deadline for donations is March 26. Thank you for helping create a meaningful visual element for our Good Friday service.
THE FIRST HYMN: NOW SHOWING
Last October, GBCC friend and scholar John Dickson joined us for a special private debut of The First Hymn. It was a meaningful evening exploring one of the earliest known Christian hymns and the story behind it. We’re excited to share that the film is now being released for a limited-time nationwide showing, giving many more people the opportunity to experience it. For two nights only March 24 & 26, THE FIRST HYMN will be in theaters nationwide. Bring your people to worship as one body through this powerful film experience, featuring the song "The First Hymn" by Chris Tomlin and Ben Fielding.
NEW GROUP: WOMEN MENTORING WOMEN
Building a multigenerational community of women who grow in Christlikeness through intentional, biblical friendships. "Older women...teaching what is good. In this way they train the younger women." --Titus 2:2-5.
Older women are matched with younger women for a 3 month period. We will kick off a 9 month program beginning September 2026 as a source of encouragement, support, guidance and love. This is not a substitute for in-depth counseling, but an opportunity to form a relationship to encourage spiritual maturity, practical wisdom, and deeper relationships with God and others. Pairs will commit to meet in person once a month and by phone or Facetime weekly. Learn more here.
CHILDREN’S VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
We're building a team who wants to share Jesus with our 2 year olds for either the 8am or 10am services. Get a glimpse of what it's like to hang with some of our littlest hearts and invest in their spiritual development. For more information or to shadow email Childrens@gbcc.me or grab a staff member today!
LYC COLLABORATION WORKSHOP!
The Love Your City Collaboration Workshop on March 25 will bring together local leaders and organizations to address housing and homelessness in Greater Green Bay, creating space for meaningful dialogue and partnership. Hosted by Together Green Bay and UW–Madison Extension, this session will feature Josh Benti and a panel of community leaders sharing insights from the new regional housing study and exploring practical next steps. We can support this important work by showing up, engaging in conversation, and identifying ways to collaborate toward sustainable solutions. Join us from 8:30–9:30 AM at the STEM Innovation Center, and complete the Collaboration Snapshot form by March 24 to be part of the shared vision and action. Sign up here!

Join us for a fun competition of pickleball! To beat the winter we will be at Four Seasons on Sunday, March 29th from 1pm-3pm! You can either compete in a little competition with a partner for a prize, or have open free play if you’re not the competitive type! Cost is $12 per person! Please sign up here and invite your friends!
Easter: so be it God
If you have ever watched a judge close a court hearing, you have likely heard the words “so ordered”—a declaration that turns a ruling into enforceable reality. When Jesus hung on the cross and declared “It is finished,” He was not only physically dying; He was declaring before all creation that sin, guilt, and shame had lost their case against you. Join us this Easter as we celebrate the sacrificial act of Jesus and discover why we can finally say, “so be it, God.” We will gather for services at 8am, 9:30am, and 11am. Children’s programming will be available during the 8:00am and 9:30am services only. Want to serve with us this Easter? Find more info here along with the Easter setlist to get familiar with the songs.
baptisms this easter
Scripture teaches that individuals who put their trust in Christ for salvation should be baptized. Baptism signifies union with Jesus Christ, specifically in His death, burial and resurrection. It is our way of telling others we are not our own, that we have been bought with a price and that we have identified with Jesus Christ (Romans 6.1-14, Matthew 28.18-2). Your baptism is important to us and we are honored to lead you through it. Our next baptisms will take place Easter Sunday, April 5th at all services!
There will not be impromptu baptisms for children 5th grade and under. If you have questions or have interest contact childrens@gbcc.me.

Come a little early and enjoy breakfast! You’ll meet some of our pastors, elders, and staff, get a simple overview of who we are as a church, and learn how you can get involved. We’ll also answer any questions you may have. Our hope is that you’ll meet new friends, catch a clear picture of our beliefs, and discover real ways to connect.
Connect to Community will meet on April 12! Sign up here.
(Note date change due to Easter Sunday)
WEEKLY GENEROSITY REPORT
Giving is an expression of our gratitude and love for God and others. When we share what we have, we participate in building His kingdom and blessing those around us. As Acts 20:35 says, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." At GBCC we strive to live with open hands, reflecting God's heart of generosity in all we do.
As we work together to fulfill our mission in Green Bay, we want to keep you regularly informed about our financial journey. Each week we will inform you of where we stand. For the week of March 12th • Total giving was $27,139--about $11,300 below our target
As the theologian and bishop Saint Basil of Caesarea once said, "When wealth is scattered in the manner in which our Lord directed, it naturally returns, but when it is gathered it naturally disperses. If you try to keep it, you will not have it: if you scatter it, you will not lose it."
When we give, we help build a community rooted in love, kindness, and selflessness, reflecting the very nature of Christ! Thank you for your commitment and passion for reflecting the nature of Christ in our church!
